Graduate Certificate in Trauma-Informed Social Work Practice with Children & Families

This graduate certificate intends to prepare graduate students for professional practice with children and families using a trauma-informed perspective. The coursework focuses on social work perspectives at the micro, meso, and macro levels as applied to child welfare and school settings.

Admissions

Admission to this graduate certificate program requires admission to a graduate program at SF State and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Applicants are required to have a grade point average of at least 3.0. in the last semester.

Interested applicant should send a letter of intent and a personal statement detailing their interest in the graduate certificate and describing how this certificate will meet their academic and professional goals. Letters of intent must also include the applicant’s SF State student ID. Applications should be uploaded on to the secure Box.com folder, the link to which can be found on the School of Social Work website.

Both matriculated and non-matriculated students apply to graduate certificate programs through CSU Apply.

Graduate Certificate in Trauma-Informed Social Work Practice with Children & Families – 9 units

  • Courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.
