Certificate in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Business Technologies
Students in the Certificate in AI for Business Technologies program will develop foundational and applied knowledge of how artificial intelligence can be used in business settings. They will learn how AI tools and methods can improve decision-making, efficiency, and innovation across different organizational functions. Whether coming from a background in Information Systems, another business area, or a different academic discipline, students will gain specialized skills in applying AI to real-world business challenges. By completing this program, they will be able to complement their undergraduate studies or professional experience with expertise in AI for business technologies, preparing them to contribute effectively in both for-profit and non-profit environments.
Mentoring and advising about career prospects and skills are integrated into the program. As a part of the program, students will have access to the Career Services & Professional Development Center, which will help students find the most appropriate position for their interests and skillset. Faculty from the Information Systems department also will provide guidance and advising for students in the program.
Develop key skills for students in their preparation or advancement for work in the AI for Business field, including but not limited to positions such as:

Admissions Requirements
To be admitted to the certificate, students must have completed 56 units with a GPA of 2.0. and be currently enrolled in the College of Business, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics at SF State. In addition, in order to be admitted in the certificate, the students must have completed ISYS 263 or equivalent with a grade of C- or better. Students who have not completed this course can be admitted to the certificate conditionally and can be expected to complete the course as condition of full admission. The application will be handled by the Department of Information Systems.
Students who are not matriculated at SFSU can complete courses for the certificate through Open University. Students should contact the Department of Information Systems. Recommended qualification include an Associate Degree in quantitative disciplines such as Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics with a 2.0 GPA, and the equivalent of ISYS 263 with a grade of C- or better. Business professionals with the appropriate background and who have completed 56 units of coursework with a GPA of 2.0 are also eligible to complete the certificate.
