Certificate in Global Health
The Certificate in Global Health equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to address pressing health challenges on a global scale. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum, participants explore key topics such as infectious diseases, health policy, gender and social determinants of health, and health equity. The program emphasizes critical thinking and promotes cross cultural sensitivity, to help students explore solutions to improve health outcomes in various contexts. This certificate is ideal for those seeking careers in public health, international development, and related fields while making a meaningful impact on global health issues.
To be admitted to the minor, students must have completed GE Areas 1A, 1B, and 1C with grades C- or better and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of key global health concepts, theories, and frameworks, including the social determinants of global health and health inequity.
- Critically analyze major global health challenges, such as infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and maternal and child health, in diverse contexts.
- Understand the role of advocacy in global health and develop strategies to promote policies that improve health outcomes, including equity and access around the world.
