Established in 2014, the Global Museum is a research unit of the School of Art in the College of Liberal & Creative Arts and serves as an academic resource and learning lab for the University and surrounding community. In Spring 2018, our new facility opened in Room 203 of the Fine Arts Building. Our permanent collection includes material culture from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Egypt, and Oceania, spanning a period covering the ancient world to the contemporary. Our exhibition gallery features rotating exhibitions developed by Museum Studies students and faculty. Admission is always free.

The mission of the Global Museum is to serve as a responsible steward of cultural heritage and to be a place of scholarship, community, and engagement. We want to create experiences that foster life-long learning and collaboration with and among diverse communities, and that encourage reflection about global society and our common humanity. Museum activities are closely integrated with the major and minor programs in Museum Studies, providing hands-on, real-world experiences with authentic objects, and opportunities in community-service based learning in the following courses:

Introduction to the History and Development of Museums
Introduction to Museum Exhibits
Introduction to Museum Education Methods and Community Engagement
Preparation for Museum Practicum
